CBD Oil For Opioid Addiction

CBD Oil For Opioid Addiction

Using CBD Oil for opioid addiction withdrawal symptoms looks very promising. Opioids are commonly prescribed for pain relief and management. The amount of prescription opioids in the U.S. almost quadrupled from 1999 to 2014. The potential for overdose is actually quite high. The opioid receptors on the brain are abundant in the area that controls our respiration. Therefore, if opioid doses in our body are high, they can shut down the breathing center. It is only recently that policy makers have come to acknowledge that country’s opioid “epidemic.”

Cannabidiol oil, or CBD, is a natural cannabinoid found in cannabis, but unlike THC, does not produce a high. There is evidence that CBD can reduce the cravings and other withdrawal symptoms in those addicted to opioids. There have been recent studies on both animals, and humans that support this evidence. CBD has more therapeutic benefit than opioids and does not cause an overdose.

Twenty-eight states have passed medical marijuana laws, but due to a lack of clinical research, cannabis is still rarely used by medical professionals. In order for the Food and Drug Administration to approve it, cannabis’ effects on humans will need to be tested further. It is currently a Schedule I drug, which makes it difficult to study in clinical trials.

Slowly, more studies and research are being conducted. Medical professionals and the scientific community have been strangely absent from conversations about policy-making regarding the legalization of medical marijuana. It will take many more trials, and many more years, before CBD can be approved for the treatment of specific diseases or symptoms.

  1. Ahh. My doctor has mentioned this cannabidiol oil to me once and I was actually scared of trying it out because I was just hearing it for the first time and it wasn’t really popular online. But now, I think I would go back for it because I’m sure it would help my situation.

  2. If CBD has all these healing properties, what exactly is taking the government or health personnel’ time to make it open to the public. I’m really just hearing about the capsule for the first time and it’s a shock because I have been battling with oploids for a while now and I’m surprised that my cure is just sitting here on the internet. This really needs to go far I must say.
